Ubaldus Raymond is a Saint Lucian politician, Senator, and Cabinet Minister.
Early life and education
Dr. Raymond is the holder of a Ph.D. degree in Development Economics from Howard University in Washington D.C., USA.
Career
prior to returning to Saint Lucia to contest the 2011 General Elections in the constituency of Castries North for the Saint Lucia Labour Party, he served for seven years as Senior Economist in the Department of the Environment and the DC Public Service Commission in Washington DC and as Assistant Professor of Economics at Florida A&M University in the Department of Economics.
Following the 2011 election he was appointed a government senator and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs. He resignedfrom the senate in August 2012 to take up the prestigious senior post of Chief Economist in the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
On 14 June 2016, Raymond was appointed Minister in the Ministry of Finance, following the victory of the UWP in the 6 June 2016 general elections.
