Former Leader of the Opposition of Bermuda
Wayne L. Furbert is a Bermudian politician and a former Leader of the Opposition in Bermuda.
Early life and education
He was educated at Francis Patton School, Bermuda Technical Institute, and the Sixth Form Center, before going off to The University of Toledo. He excelled in Mathematics and Physics and was invited to join the Mathematics Honor Society. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education degree. Later he received a Master's Degree in E - Business. He currently is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration.
Career
Swan contested four general elections over a 25-year period before winning a Wayne L. Furbert, comes from a distinguished political family. His Great Uncle, Ernest Furbert was the first Black Member of Parliament in Hamilton Parish in 1933; followed by Wayne Furbert's Great Grandfather WB Furbert. He was first elected in 1993, and served in many Cabinet Ministries such as Culture, Transport, Housing, Health and Social Service. Other positions he has held are Chairman and Leader of the Opposition for the United Bermuda Party.
Furbert has served on many Government Boards including Chairman of the Bermuda Hospital Board Finance Committee, Chairman of the Road Safety Council and National Youth Council. The Hon. Wayne L. Furbert serves now as Minister of Business Development and Tourism. Additionally Wayne Furbert is a Certified Public Accountant and a prestigious entrepreneur.
Personal life
He is married to wife Ulene and has twins Jasmine and J’von.
