Electoral System

Background
Grenadians went to the polls on 13 March 2018. Grenada Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell made the announcement at a mass rally at the National Stadium Car Park on Sunday, 28 January 2018. He advised Governor-General Dame Cécile La Grenade to dissolve Parliament effective 29 January 2018. Writs will be issued on 30 January 2018. Nomination Day will be Tuesday, 20 February 2018 and Polling Day will be Tuesday, 13 March 2018. Mitchell’s New National Party (NNP) will face off against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), this time led by Nazim Burke. The NNP won a clean sweep of the 15 seats at stake in the 19 February 2013 General Election. Approximately 88 per cent of 62,148 registered voters participated in the 2013 election on Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique.
