General Election
Results - 2 February 1995 |
General elections were held in Turks and Caicos Islands on 2 February 1995.
There were 13 seats in 13 constituencies throughout the islands.
Two parties contested the election – Progressive National Party (PNP) and the People's Democratic Movement (PDM).
A total of 33 candidates contested the election. The two major parties each presented a full slate of 13 candidates. There were also 7 independent candidates.
The result was a victory for the PDM winning 8 of 13 seats. The PNP won 4 seats, and one seat went to an Independent candidate. PDM leader Derek Taylor was sworn in as the Chief Minister.
Voter turnout was 77.28%. |
