National Party of Suriname (NPS)
The National Party of Suriname (Nationale Partij Suriname, NPS) is a political party in Suriname, founded on 29 September 1946 by people from the working class, and currently led by Ronald Venetiaan.

With the restoration of democracy in 1987, the NPS entered into a partnership with the VHP (Progressive Reform Party) and the KTPI (Kerukanan Tulodo Prenatan Inggil).  They formed when the Front for Democracy and Development.  During the elections held when the Front took 40 of the 51 seats.  In 1991, the SPA (Surinamese Labour Party) joined the Front.

At the 2005 legislative elections, the party was part of the New Front for Democracy and Development that won 41.2% of the popular vote and 23 out of 51 seats in the National Assembly.

In June 2012, Ronald Venetiaan stepped down from party leadership. Party elections were held for his successor with Gregory Rusland winning seven out of eleven districts, and Ivan Fernald winning four.
