Sovereign People (Pueblo Soberano) |
Sovereign People (Pueblo Soberano) is a political party in Curaçao founded in 2005, which became the largest party in the Estates of Curaçao after the Curaçao general election of 2012.
Pueblo Soberano is a progressive party that strives for independence from Curacao, outside the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Other views include, for example, the abolition of Dutch in public administration and education in favor of primarily Papiaments and, secondly, English and Spanish, important languages in the region. Pueblo Soberano originated from Helmin Wiels' organization Movimiento Aliansa Sivil.
At the 2017 elections, PS won one seat in the Estates of Curaçao. |
