Learn more The Dominica House of Assembly has 32 members, 21 members elected for a five year term in single-seat constituencies, by first-past-the-post voting; 9 appointed senators, the Speaker and 1 ex-officio member.
Head of State President indirectly elected by legislature.
Head of Government Prime Minister is appointed by the President
Structure of Parliament Unicameral Parliament consisting of the House of Assembly with 31 seats.

Constituencies 21 single-member constituencies.
Voting System The President is appointed to serve a 5-year term. In the House of Assembly, 9 members are appointed to serve 3-year terms and 21 members are elected by popular vote to serve 5-year terms

Voter Requirements - age: 18 years
- British Commonwealth citizenship
- fulfilment of residence or domicile requirements
Candidate Eligibility and Requirements - age: 21 years
- Dominican citizenship (Commonwealth citizenship for Senate candidates)
- residence in Dominica or previous 12 months' residence immediately before nomination
- sufficient ability to speak and read English
- ineligibility: allegiance to a foreign State, undischarged bankruptcy, insanity, death sentence or imprisonment exceeding 12 months
- deposit equivalent to US$ 184, which is reimbursed if the candidate obtains at least 1/8 of the valid votes cast in the constituency
