General Elections were held in the British Virgin Islands on 27 November 1950 for all five seats in the Legislative Council.
Electoral System
The British Virgin Islands elects on territorial level to a unicameral legislature. In the Legislative Council, there four at large Elected Members of the Singular Constituency. The Council also includes a Commissioner, two Financial Officials, one Nominated Official Member, and two Nominated Unofficial Members. There was no Legal Official (the Attorney General sat in Antigua).
Background
This was the first election held in the British Virgin Islands after the decision to restore the Legislative Council of the British Virgin Islands.
Political Parties & Candidates
There were no political parties in the Territory at the time, nor any system of Ministerial government.
